1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Recursely ("the Platform"), available at recursely.app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Platform.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Recursely. We may update these Terms from time to time, and your continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
2. Description of Service
Recursely is an interactive learning platform for algorithms and data structures. The Platform provides:
- Interactive micro-lessons with bilingual support (English/Portuguese)
- Coding problems with automated execution and evaluation
- AI-powered mentoring through Rex (powered by Anthropic Claude) — coming after beta
- Spaced repetition review system
- Gamification features (XP, levels, streaks, achievements, leaderboard)
- Study plans and learning journeys
- Guided problem-solving sessions (Pro plan)
3. User Accounts
To use certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete registration information
- Maintain the security of your password and account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
You may register using email/password or Google OAuth. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Free and Pro Plans
Recursely offers two tiers:
Free Plan: Includes access to all lessons, problems, basic spaced repetition, and community features.
Pro Plan: Includes guided sessions, advanced gamification, priority support, and additional features as described on our pricing page. AI mentor (Rex) will be available to Pro members after the beta phase.
Pro Plan pricing and features are subject to change. We will notify active subscribers of any pricing changes at least 30 days in advance.
5. Payment and Billing
Pro Plan subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected at checkout. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.
- All payments are processed securely through our payment provider
- Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis within 7 days of purchase
- You may cancel your subscription at any time; access continues until the end of the billing period
- Failure to pay may result in downgrade to the Free Plan
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Platform
- Interfere with or disrupt the Platform's infrastructure
- Abuse the AI mentor system (e.g., using Rex for purposes unrelated to learning, attempting prompt injection, excessive automated requests)
- Share your account credentials with others
- Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract content
- Submit malicious code through the code execution system
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation
- Circumvent rate limits or usage restrictions
7. Intellectual Property
Platform Content: All lessons, problems, educational content, UI design, logos, and branding are owned by Recursely and protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without explicit permission.
Your Code: Code you write and submit on the Platform remains yours. By submitting code, you grant us a non-exclusive license to process, execute, and store it for Platform functionality purposes.
AI-Generated Content: When available, responses from Rex (AI mentor) will be generated by Anthropic's Claude and provided for educational purposes. We do not claim ownership of AI-generated responses.
8. Code Execution
The Platform provides code execution capabilities through the Piston engine. You acknowledge that:
- Code is executed in sandboxed environments with resource limits
- We are not responsible for the output or behavior of your submitted code
- Execution of malicious, harmful, or illegal code is strictly prohibited
- We reserve the right to limit or restrict code execution access
9. AI Mentor (Rex) — Coming Soon
Rex is an AI-powered learning assistant currently in development. It will be available after the beta phase. When launched, you will understand that:
- Rex's responses are AI-generated and may occasionally contain errors
- Rex is designed for educational assistance related to algorithms and data structures
- Conversation history will be stored to improve your learning experience
- Rex interactions will be subject to rate limits based on your plan
- We will use Anthropic's Claude API to power Rex, and Anthropic's usage policies will also apply
- Rex should not be used as a substitute for professional advice
10. Privacy
Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Disclaimers
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Uninterrupted or error-free service
- Accuracy or completeness of educational content
- Availability of third-party services (Anthropic API, Piston, etc.)
We do not guarantee that using Recursely will result in specific learning outcomes, job placement, or career advancement.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Recursely and its founders, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from:
- Your use or inability to use the Platform
- Any errors or inaccuracies in content
- Unauthorized access to your account
- Loss of data or code submissions
- Service interruptions or downtime
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
13. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. You may delete your account at any time through your account settings.
Upon termination:
- Your right to use the Platform ceases immediately
- We may delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy
- Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Brazil.
